Living Waters Counseling will soon begin the final building phase of its original vision. The non-profit organization was recently awarded a matching grant from the Wiregrass Foundation for the building of five cabins around the pond on the back side of the beautiful wooded property.
“These cabins will allow us to host
youth retreats, marriage retreats, love
offering retreats for military families,
and transitional housing for many
needs,” Dr. Ginger Mayer, executive director,
said. “The cabins will definitely

Two of the cabins will be dormitory-style housing 10 people each while the other three will be buddy/couple layouts housing eight people each. The organization has begun fundraising efforts for the required matching funds of $180,510.21. In 2002, co-founders Dr. Mayer and her husband George had the vision of a facility on 35 acres of land, built around a body of water with a counseling center, five cabins, an activity building, a chapel, and a barn. As of today, 25 acres with a chapel and barn has been donated, a 3,200 sq. ft. Counseling Center and a 4,000 sq. ft.
Activities Building have been constructed, leaving only the five cabins to go. The Activities Building, the newest addition, seats 125 and has a full commercial kitchen, stage, state-of-the-art audio/visual equipment and a large screened porch overlooking the pond. The Churchhouse is a more intimate setting for up to 15 people with a small kitchen, fireplace and piano. Both are available as rental venues. Living Waters offers numerous clinical and therapeutic services. They are also offering classes for families in July and August. Please see their website for more information, www.lwcounseling.net.
